Emergency Water Shut Off (11/17/20)

(UPDATE) Tuesday Nov 17th 7:35PM

The fire hydrant has been fixed and water is being restored ahead of the estimated timeline! It’s recommended to flush your water lines of any air or stirred up sediments from a hose or tub faucet. Thank you to the work crews that jumped on task to quickly fix this, and thank you for the community’s patience and understanding.

The contractors encountered a faulty fire hydrant and noticed it leaking this evening. In order to fix the hydrant, the City has to make an emergency water shut off to fix the leak and replace the hydrant. To isolate the fire hydrant, there is an area near Main Ave West, Hemlock St. and Ginkgo St. that is impacted by the water shut off. There is no issue of contamination with the break, though it is advised to flush your water at a tub or hose bib once the water is turned back on.

The contractors work crews and the City public work employees are on site to get this fixed as quickly as possible. Currently, it is an estimated 2-3 hours until the water is turned back on. The hydrant needs to be dug up carefully to avoid further complications. Please give the contractors and public work crews your support by letting them work uninterrupted, as this will expedite the repair process. The City understands evening and weekend water shut offs are disruptive to our community and our public works team is working diligently with the contractors to get through this emergency repair.

This post will be updated as more news becomes available.

Thank you for your patience.
