MOSES LAKE, WA – On Saturday, May 20, 2023, Renew, the Grant County Suicide Prevention Taskforce, a local veteran volunteer, Aaron Schrodt, and other supporters invite you to join them at the local Hike 22 event coming up. This year’s walk is free and will be held on Saturday, May 20,2023 starting at 8:00 am. The hike is 22km (approximately 13.6 miles) beginning at Blue Heron Park in Moses Lake, with a break at Cascade Park, and concluding again at Blue Heron Park. After completing the hike, attendees are welcome to enjoy BBQ food, develop new friendships and connections, and learn more about Veteran suicide and available resources. This walk is for all ages.
Suicide amongst Veterans on the national level is much higher than suicide amongst the general population. By breaking the stigma of mental illness, connecting Veterans to local resources, learning how to identify the warning signs, and assisting a Veteran who may be going through a crisis, we most definitely CAN make a positive difference.
