(UPDATE Jan. 2nd, 7:30pm)
The lift station has been repaired and the sewer system is running normally again. The issue was at a pipe coupling at the lift station, but the rest of the system is being closely checked on as well. Thanks to Public Works and City Engineers for jumping on the fix through these freezing temperatures.
(ORIGINAL POST Jan 2nd, 3:00pm)
The City’s sewer system that pumps waste water to the City’s treatment plant has experienced a failure and needs emergency repairs. Public Works and City Engineers are working to resolve the issue and are following regulatory guidelines in response to this incident.
Please stay clear of the Lift Station #2 at Dogwood Street North and West beach Park until the system is fixed.
As waste water needs to be diverted with pumping trucks, reducing water use at this time will help the repair efforts. Any laundry or washing that can be put on hold for the day will help, but do continue to let faucets flow that are needed to avoid freezing pipes through this cold snap.
