City Construction Updates

The end of May, sewer construction crews will be finishing up in Area 1, shown in the map below. This work area is between Aster St S, east across Daisy to Fern St S, and Between 6th Ave SE, north to 1st Ave SE. Construction crews will move to Area 2 beginning June 1st and have already mobilized materials in that area. Area 2 is between 1st Ave SE, north to 3rd Ave NE, and between Cana St N, east across Daisy to Gladiola St N, as shown in the map below.

Water crews will be finishing up work in Area 1 as shown below. New water meter installations will continue through out the length of the project. Expect clean up during the end of May and water crews moving to Area 2 on June 1st as well. Due to scheduling necessities, street asphalt and concrete curb and sidewalk repairs in Area 1 will be combined with those repairs in Area 2, which will begin after Area 2 water systems have been improved. Let your neighbors in Area 1 know that crews will be back to finish the streets and sidewalks and it won’t be left unfinished.

NOTE: Construction crews are now scheduled to work five 10 hour days, Monday through Friday at this time. When construction is in your area please plan for changes to your garbage pickup, for restriction to street parking, and utility service disruptions. Please put your garbage out as you normally would but the night before your scheduled pickup day, and the contractors will move your garbage bins to were they can be picked up then return them to your property after garbage has been collected. Please don’t park on the street when construction is near you. With the high wind speeds we have been experiencing, be aware you may experience high levels of construction dust. Work crews water the roads but there is only so much prevention that can be provided at reasonable cost. Remember this inconvenience is only temporary. Contact City Hall with any questions, and thank you for your patience as we work through this project this year.
